剧情：故事发生在人流汹涌的大都市伦敦。奥玛尼萨（Gordon Warnecke 饰）是一位英俊帅气的巴基斯坦青年，在叔父的帮助下开了一间小小的洗衣店，以此为生。叔父十分满意奥玛尼萨的勤恳和老实，觉得他是个可靠的男人，于是开始帮他张罗起了娶妻事宜，当然，在叔父的内心里，自己的女儿是成为奥玛尼萨妻子的最佳人选。强尼（丹尼尔戴-刘易斯 Daniel Day Lewis 饰）是奥玛尼萨的大学同学，得知好友正在经营洗衣店，强尼主动请缨前来帮忙。和奥玛尼萨不同，强尼个性张扬桀骜不驯，但奇怪的是，这两个男人凑在一起，还颇为投缘。随着时间的推移，一种超越了友谊的感情在他们之间诞生了。
